Women's Practice Race

Is your team looking to kick off Spring Break with a bang? Join your fellow female Little 5ers this weekend Saturday, March 12th, at 1 p.m. for a friendly practice race on Little 500 bikes. We will be out on Knightridge Road (map below). The loop is almost 4 miles and we will be doing 3 laps. The weather is supposed to be nice, so come celebrate spring with your friends and get a little bit of racing in, too!

Options:

1. Meet at the Sample Gates at 12:30pm and we’ll all ride out together

2. Meet us out at the intersection of Knightridge and 446 at 1pm

If there is a large turnout, we’ll split into an A heat and a B heat. Please email me (lhalf@indiana.edu) if you are coming (preferably by noon on Friday), so we have an estimate of how many to expect. Hope to see you out there this Saturday!

Cool idea...and there's enough sand and crap on the corners it will be like the cinders!

I would be concerned about liability.

...so are you concerned about liability when you ride like a sketch-ball on wednesday worlds?

Wes said...

LOL no I'm concerned that they need a follow car when on 446 it's dangerous.

i still fail to see why they need a follow car on 446 when wednesday worlds regularly does 6-9 laps of the same course, sometimes with upwards of 40 riders, without a follow car and things seem to go just fine

Maybe he's referring to the Cutters getting taken out but that was way further down the road.

yeah, it was further down. and the car was coming the opposite way and hit the lead riders, so a follow car (behind the riders) probably would not have helped...

No it's just dangerous unless you stay on the sholder which has a lot of derbis on it now. Safty first! I love the 446 circuit but it can be dangerous with drunk boaters and hill billys in big trucks.

Wes you're starting to sound like Ryan Kiel; anyone who wants to get better can't I'm sorry it's just too "dangerous"

If you think its dangerous, there is a simple solution....DON'T COME!

I'll be there, danger can kiss my chamois!

What are teams allowed as far as coaches this year? Does it have to be a student?

All women are welcome! I just wanted to give women an opportunity to practice pack riding and racing a little bit before the REAL race because many do not do any racing during the year other than L5. I thought it would be nice for the female racers to get to know each other a little better and get comfortable with each other’s riding styles. I anticipate a very laidback and friendly event. We plan to ride Little 500 bikes, which are available to rent for the weekend at the Wilcox house (must be rented by 5 p.m. Friday). Thanks!

If you're worried about safety, never do the 46th & Central ride in Indy. Every ride in Bloomington is safe compared to that thing. Plus those guys go much faster up north

I ride up north, you should be scared. Very scared. We throw down.

Oh you're soooo fast in Indy and I would SOOOO much like to live in Indy over Bloomington. What a shithole.
