The Hilly cometh

Amazingly the Hilly Hundred is next weekend! It's kinda early this year so those L5 teams who use it as a testing ground might be in trouble dragging their rookies around the hills for a LOOOONG time!
There is a new route on saturday this year, presumably to avoid some of the crappier roads and the long portion of SR43 that featured in the past few years. There is no route available but there is the hill break down! 24% in the first few miles might break people mentally from the gun!

Skip Higgins told me that the first day distance has increased to 55 miles due to the new route.

55? I'm not doing it then, Little 5 is only 50

The Men's race is actually closer to 52 than 50, Shhh though it is a secret.

50.98 to be exact. I'd say that is closer to 50 than 52.

I can't wait to win the hilly!

50.98 is riding the pole lane each lap with no exchanges. An average team riding 1-3 meters off the gutter, not holding the turns on a burn attempt, and exchanging every 5-8 laps can expect an increase in distance. I'd guess 2-4 meters a lap would not be out of the question, so 400-800(or more) meters again puts us closer to 52.

FRAT indeed

So that means the Indy 500 is not really 500 miles?

Is there a group that will meet up again to go out to the course?
