Support for IU Track Team from Scholars Inn

I'm pleased to report that the Scholars Inn is helping out the IU Track Team with their entries for Nationals this year! It's a crazy $45 per rider for the Team Pursuit and the Team Sprint so having some support will enable IU to enter teams for these events. The team is coming together nicely and they'll hope to challenge the Marian juggernaut to the best of their abilities. BTW the Collegiate team sprint is a unique event where 2 girls and 4 guys take the track and riders pull one lap each and then drop out (6 laps total). The usual strategy is girls to pull the first two laps before the guys take over. This would mean that 1 girl would have to pay $45 for 1 lap....the pain of which will be greatly helped out by support from Scholars.

If you want to get breakfast or lunch head over to the Scholars Inn Bakehouse on the square and if you're looking for very nice evening with fantastic food and great service head up the hill to the Scholars Inn resturant and wine bar. You can order the tasty Scholars Granola on the BVN sidebar!

I thought the bakehouse only sponsored the almighty cutters? (hints the shirts)

Really smart. Shit on someone who just offered to pay for your race. Learn some manners, say thank you and shut your mouth.

why do you even post on here. you made your own forum. go there and enjoy cuttersdom.

I.U.’s team may not end up being of the caliber of the 2004 or 2006 teams that finished 2nd in the omnium, but more information about the team would be nice. Sure $45.00 is pricey and the club should have budgeted for this event especially considering it is in Indy, but give it a rest. If you train hard and smart, you can advance in many of the events and get more racing for your money. A dedicated team will make the most of what they have and make sure that the club does a better job with preparation and budgeting for future Collegiate National events.

Like Todd says that's pretty shitty to comment on someone who is paying your way or atleast some of it. I hope Lyle takes back his money and only pays for the Cutter boys that are racing so people will appreciate it a little more. Especially since Eric, Patch, and Sam will be the only ones that represent IU well. It's too bad IU can't come together as a team because of Little 5 ego's because like Tom said our team could be a lot better without this ignorance put forth from others. I don't see any frat moneys coming into this even when they have the biggest budgets?

Wow how can someone being generous with their support illicit such negativity! Hank, you especially are out of line as there are a bunch of riders who are ready and able to represent IU just as well as your teammates. This is nothing to do with Cutters vs Frats so give it a rest.
Tom- point taken about value for money in part. However Team Sprint is a one or two round event and the kilo/500m are single race events so is a lot of cash per lap (for what that's worth).
I'm not going to name all the riders involved but suffice to say there are at least ten riders who have committed themselves to representing IU and were going to do so regardless of the financial commitment. I saw an opportunity to help them out so took it (as you have done in the past Tom).
Now stop whinging and buy some granola!

I really hope that wasn't the real Hank that posted that. As Geraint said, there are plenty of good riders who will be representing IU at Nationals, many of who are very new to track racing but will still do quite well at nationals. Geraint has helped pull together an IU team in the past few weeks and given some organization to the team to represent YOUR school. Most Greek team's budgets are specifically for Little 5 and IUCC events are paid for out of pocket and I wouldn't say they are always the highest on campus (often, yes, but not always). I'm fairly certain that all interested team members were going to pay the race entry fees regardless, The Scholars Inn was just generous to help out.

Todd and Hank, I don't think that the first anonymous poster was anyone who will be representing IU at Nationals. Everyone racing is very thankful for the Scholars Inn's support.

I'm done posting on this website. Too many imposters; Geraint I'm sorry my name is thrown around so much on here as I assure you that post wasn't from me. Is there any way to shut off the link where you can write in a name and for that matter the anonymous one as well? I am able to "put my Little 500 ego aside" and hope IU does great. I could really care less as to what other teams are doing right now: frats, independants, sororitys, everyone... I am not interested in riding on the velodrome whatsoever. Did the clinic and never liked it so I'm not going to participate at Track nats. Just not appealing to me. I wish everyone luck and hope IU does well but I will be cheering a little more for my cutter teammates that's just a given. Chris West will get some shout outs as well because of our love for $2 Tuesdays...peace out BVN and everyone who wants to be me

You need to moderate this board more effectively. You might start with deleting the first post and the "forged" Hank post.

And why so secretive about the members of the team?

Apologies to anyone who has been mistaken for someone else. I guess I give people too much credit for not posting as other people (cut to Tom with a wry smile as he considers his PS3 experiences!)! If I have time I'll go back and work out who posted as 'Hank' and watch out them in future.

I couldn't agree more. I think that's outstanding that Scholars has stepped up to support the team. It is an expensive event and especially on a college student's budget. I also think it's great that the team is getting some support from the Bloomington community seeing as how the university offers little to no financial support or really little to no support in general.

I commend all of the riders for stepping up to compete in what can be a very daunting event. They will be competing against other riders that not only have their entry fees covered but also their lodging, food, coaching, and for many of them tuition and room and board as well. Having competed for IU at Track Nationals myself, I’m proud and excited that IU will again be sending a team and I can’t wait to cheer them on and see how well they do. Competing at Track Nationals was my favorite experience I had racing for IU and I hope all of this year’s riders have a similar experience.

So good luck to all of you and know that you have a large contingent behind you wishing you well!

Great post Pam, do you think you can light a fire under the ass of IUCC and get them to take the lead in planning and preparation for National Championship events?
