Tuesday Forest TT presented by ZIPP!!

Next Tuesday (8/18) the Forest 10mile Time Trial will be a special occasion! Don Galligher, owner of Revolution Bike and Bean has organized for Jeff Gold, a representation of ZIPP wheels, to be in attendance with the ZIPP truck. Jeff will have a selection of demo wheels available for riders to roll with. From Don- 'ZIPP will have demo wheels to try (assuming aero set-ups) 404, 606, 808, maybe rear disc. They will help install the wheels, and make sure everything is working well. Their goal to show people the aerodynamic advantage of using their set-ups'. If you have any specfiic questions please contact Jeff at bikewave@aol.com
The TT will start as usual at 7pm so if you want some wheels then get there early! The ZIPP truck will be at the forest from approx 6pm so arrive early in order to see what’s on offer. I’ll be rolling out from the Sample Gates at 5.15p if anyone wants to ride up to the Forest.

HMMM cool event, However seeing as Revolution is a zipp dealer and knowing Mr. Galliger it sounds as if this is more of an attempt to sell a bunch of expensive wheels and turn the cool Tuesday Time Trial into a potential bank account boost for Don. Thanks Jeff for your time, it should be cool I just question Don's intentions since he is fast gaining a nasty reputation.

I agree with Geraint. I'm not an bike shop expert, but if you so choose to purchase some wheels, I think many bike shops are dealers for ZIPP.

I think that it is absolutely ridiculous to accuse a bike shop of trying to sell products . . . what next, a national health care system??

It's completely blasphemous for a bike shop to try to sell bike related products!! How dare they! This is definitely an outrage.

Seems the 'nasty reputation' Galliger is gaining is just market share within the Bloomington bike community. I say there's nothing wrong with a bit of competition...

I think that a few posters may not be aware of the nature of our little TT. It is a friendly informal training event. Employees from all the local shops attend and it has been, up to now, fairly gauche to use it as a opportunity to hawk wares. Considering the Forest TT was revived largely by the efforts of one of the employees from another shop ( and _not_ as an opportunity to plug the shop for which he works,I might add) it is easy to see why this little instance can come off as a little unseemly.

Let us hope that none of the local shops feel the need to set up a tent at Sample Gates every Wed. for WW. 8^)

Looks like BVN is turning into the new PS3...

I think Chartier said it best - - "... i am very impressed that people are finding a way to complain about this..."

I would set up for any Btown dealer who asked me for any of the products i work with: DeRosa bicycles, SRAM, Fox clothing, ect. Personally, I think its cool to get to try stuff you might otherwise never have ridden before buying it. Might it turn into sales? I hope so. Does it cost you anything to try it? No . Is going faster more fun? Yes. Is there something wrong with grass roots marketing? Check at the Kelly School of Business...I am looking forward to seeing you all in the forest!

I'll start lobbying the local stores to have a 'DeRosa TT bike demo'! Lets hope the weather holds fine!

I find it almost ridiculous that people can complain about someone organzing a visit by a demo truck for an event in your own back yard. Of course they hope you'll want to buy some wheels, thats part of running a business.
And since Don has come to town other shops have had to up their game, BGI is having cross practices, they never did this before.
Don is also bringing a stop of the Ohio Valley cross series to bloomington this fall, we the consumers are only winning by this increase in compitition with all the cycling activities that it will bring to b-town!
