Keeping it rolling on

The @NUVOcycling team had a great year so far with big wins for Eric Young and big podiums for amongst other Jonathan Jacob at Masters Nationals (3 silver medals). Over the weekend it was these two riders, ably supported by Schaeffer and Luzadder, who were getting superb results over at the Gateway Cup in St Louis. The fields were of high quality with over 120 Cat1/2s including local P-R-O Brad Huff and current US Pro Crit champ Daniel Holloway (@the_Hollywood). Even with these fields Jacob and Young went an amazing 1st and 3rd on not one day but two consecutive days. On Saturday at St Louis Hills, Jacob rode away from a high quality break on the final two laps to win solo whilst Young beat Holloway in the sprint for 3rd. Then on Sunday at the 'The Hill' Jacob got in a two man break with Rob Bush (Kenda) and likely ditched him on the final lap for another solo win. Young then won the sprint for third! These crit courses are hard but getting to the finish solo is almost unheard of so clearly Jacob is riding like a monster atm.
I'm sorry I didn't see the sprint yesterday as it's a 40mph downhill drag-race that would have been fun to watch. There no better way to get a contract with a Pro team than to beat the US Pro Crit champ in a straight up sprint....twice!

Lots of Riders!

The Finish (by Harry Clark)
ps Interesting that Holloway rips Young on Twitter for celebrating this 3rd place on Sunday- 'Lol to the guy who raised his hands for 3rd. How could you not know anyone was off the front?' I guess they don't go much for appreciating team-mates at Bissell!

That Holloway fella was a punk. Watching this race was one of the best displays of sheer determination I've seen in cycling. Jacobs and Bush ripping themselves apart and staying away and Young straight up handing the US PRO criterium champ his ass not once but two days in a row speaks volumes. Holloway is shit talking because he knows there's a possibility that they will be team mates come next summer and that he's title as team leader will ultimately fall to none other than Young. Hollway, if for some reason you're reading this blog I'd like to say that you are a professional athlete, act like it. Take your beatings like a big boy and appreciate that someone is better than you. Jacobs is a monster and I hope he ends up winning the omnium over that Hollaway bitch. Good racing this weekend NUVO you guys smoked it against a very good field and it was fun watching!

Funny that Holloway rips Young for putting his arms up for 3rd. Holloway got 4th a few weeks ago and did this....

...and if I remember correctly, the guys in front of him weren't on his team.

uh...not to defend Holloway's childish comments on Twitter, but he did win a national title in said race. I think raising his hands - even if it was 4th in the race - is OK.

Oh the egos in this sport. I don't know Eric well, but he appears to be a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. Let's hope he stays grounded.

He's way more grounded than any talented young kid I've ever seen. I wish I could have been more like him.

Maybe Holloway should have gone to college?

"ROAD" the break all day, tried to stay mellow at end to save some for tomorrow. Rolled in for 4th. BBQ tonight at the Lynch house will be fun

He making excuses and you better believe it was a big deal to him!

Holloway is one ugly dude. He thinks he's the shit. He is going to be bummed when some 22-23 year old dominates him next year. He's good at the madison though.
