Cutters...yawn

A few people have sent me this link so I'll throw it up. Some top tri-dude has a 'Cutters' T-shirt on likely not knowing anything about the race. The Cutters are SOOOO commercial these days I'll be expecting to see even the rookies rolling up the track in Escalades next february.

Is it yawn, because the race is already over this year with the fully restocked Cutter squad, or because Cancellara already did it, or because you have talked so much about Cutters you don't want to look like you secretly love everything about them?

Why does he clearly know nothing about the race? Maybe he has never seen it live but he's friends with a Cutter so he might know something.

Cutters rule not only the Little 500 but the world of athletics in general. Live with it people you will never win

"Cutters rule not only the Little 500 but the world of athletics in general."
-Change the cat. restriction and then you can say that.

No, I think confused is correct. I was referring to Cancellara wearing a Cutters shirt. Then I was just joking about your yawn comment because usually you talk up the Cutters but have lately been getting shit for it.

The Cutters don't have any money. Half of them work. Fiji could roll up in Escalades though filled with 2nd place trophies and a bunch of tears.

That rule was made for none other than Hans and ATO. Or did you mean get rid of the cat restriction altogether? Fine with me.

The whole objective behind the Little 500 is developing a network for college students to compete all while promoting physical fitness. Point to take from this? Ride your fucking bike and quit bitching that the cutters always win. They work harder than anyone so give them credit where it is due. The cat restriction has nothing to do with winning either. No one was bitching when they won (wait a minute let me think, they've won so much) oh yeah, back in 09 when they had three rookies and one 2nd year rider; just thought it was a fluke when actually it was the start of a dynasty. I'm all about lifting the category restriction. Let Ren-Jay ride as a cat 2, he deserves to, and he's an excellent example of what the little 500 is all about. Let Dewart ride too. But Eric Young has not broken any rules therefore is qualified to ride so don't bitch because you are scared of him. If you're writing them off as the winners already why don't you just send them the rings now and enjoy the year drinking and doing whatever it is that you do instead of training.

Oh man people are going to go crazy when Cutters finally lose. They will rub it in and gloat like hell. 2016 will be a great year for frats!

I bet he just saw the Academy-Award-winning movie, "Breaking Away," (prolly with French subtitles) and he was moved by the coming-of-age and town-and-gown storylines that are expertly brought to life through heart-warming, believable characters filmed locally on the stunning IU campus and surrounding countryside. Since he is a triathlete, he probably identifies with the individual hard-work and effort that the naive Dave Stoller (the main character) puts into his training, only to have the life sucked out of him by drafting and cheating road racers and douche-bag frat-stars motorpacing behind mercedes convertibles. Then he probably went on the internet and bought the shirt, in order to signify his affinity for not only the film, but the spirit embodied by the underdog characters. Then he prolly went and trained a whole bunch so he could make bitches "witness the fitness" at Kona. He'll prolly be dissapointed when he finds out the shirt is so closely affiliated with the "modern day Cutters," a team made up of elite college students, a couple of whom are ballers (e.g. the Eric/ks), but most of whom just ride wheels and sprint like the rest of the "roadies" (except Dave Stoller, who was also a baller despite being a "roadie").

wow, that was some post! But I think he's wearing the actual shirt from last year or the year before.

That's last years' race day shirt. Boom bitch

Cutters don't need to dope to beat all you babies. Just as an alum this is just pathetic to read. Word through the grapevine is that about 2-3 other teams (not the Cutters) are taking HGH and EPO. Coming from a reliable source that takes steroids himself for personal weightlifting reasons...waste of money if they are taking them because they sure don't help. IUSF needs to implement a drug testing policy for the top 5 teams every year in the men's race atleast to solve all problems. Then no one can complain about who's winning and who's losing

That's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how ungodly expensive EPO is? Not to mention how hard it would be to get, assuming your not in renal failure. I would bet if IUSF tested blood over the past 25 years they would have trouble finding a single person to fail.

Anonymous said...

No, I don't tell us how much it costs. Apparently you know! I doubt you have to be in renal failure to get it. Of course a doctor is not going to prescribe it. Joe Papp just got popped and he was getting it sent from China Fed Ex or something.

I got on here to check how the track nats team is doing and see this. Amusing stuff!

To confirm the above comment, Dirk is a training buddy of mine and good friend. Slowtwitch did a piece on him because he is one of the favorites at Kona in a few weeks and they pulled the picture off his blog (no corporate money for the Cutters). He gives me a bunch of gear so I threw him a shirt. That picture is from April or May after he went surfing with some mutual friends in St. Augustine.

If you type Epogen into http://www.destinationrx.com/ it's about 2.5k a month. I doubt any team has 10k a month to spend on it's four riders. And yes the most common use of it is on patients in Kidney failure receiving dialysis, although it can be used for HIV patients that have chronically been on certain medications or people receiving chemotherapy. A 20 year old filling a prescription from his local CVS is probably gonna arouse some suspicion from a pharmacist.

Ever hear of generic versions that cost about 1/10th of the price from underground labs? It's no different than the generics of an antibiotic that cost $5 for generic but $100 for the real deal. Same exact ingredients. And some teams have very large budgets!

Anonymous said...

Epogen is a "biologic" medication, so there are no generics. They are governed by different sets of laws.

Anonymous said...

OK, but EPO has generic versions. Google it!

Unbelievable. Stupidest shit I've ever read. Across the board.

I think we should test all of those big budget teams, they have to be doing something with all of that money!

Wow, big levels of ignorance on a number of levels here. But let me educate in you one regard: Making a generic EPO "underground" is not like cooking meth in a trailer in Elletsville. It is an incredibly complex process that requires a huge amount of capital investment and research -- you can't simply order chemicals out of Sigma Aldrich catalog and make it. It is a recombinant biotech molecule expressed by genetically modified mammalian cells.

Go back to biology class.

Anonymous said...

No one said anything about making it yourselves. The lab that Joe Papp got it from was from China, and they were shipping it to several pro's and some amateurs in the US. It was not Epogen or Cera the 2 big name labs. You guys are so stupid to think you can't buy this stuff over the internet. You would think for a cyclist, you might read cycling articles about Papp selling it.

http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/02/news/usada-witness-joe-papp-admits-conspiracy-to-sell-epohgh_105463

And yes, they sell the recombinant version over the internet. dumbasses!! Still that's not to accuse any team of doing it. But you people are naive to think that cat 1's 2's are not using this stuff trtying to go pro. Especially the ones with some cash. I mean not everyone works at the bakehouse and makes $7.00 an hour.

It would piss me off to know if teams are doing anything of the sort. I doubt they are doing EPO because they would have to know a lot about how to do it. I would not put it past them to do the other stuff like Test or HGH.

Anonymous said...

How does the guy asking people to go back to biology class know so much about chemicals like EPO and how they are made? Sounds like a front.

Hank said...

I made $7.25 an hour at the bakehouse. That extra quarter/hr allows me to buy all sorts of illegal drugs. Also to above poster: you would need more chemistry (to produce) and physiology (to understand) how the body and its' functioning systems work under given circumstances.

If there is anyone I am sick of hearing from it is this Hank kid. Anyone can ride coattails to multiple Little 500 championships, but only a complete douchebag has the ignorance and nerve to gloat about it.

This guy obviously wasn't loved as a child.

Don't hate the playa hate the game! I've got the ring(s) and you don't so come say it to my face if you've got a problem with me you pussy. Rather ride coattails to victory than be remembered for...oh wait you won't be remembered shut the hell up

Besides this is a blog for people to bitch and moan don't take everything to heart man. If it bothers you that much I can give you some advice for that as I'm majoring in psychology too along with my Exercise Science degree so I totally understand why some people act the way they do. You're a fairly regular example "Legitimate Little 5 Rider". It's called rationalization and its' a defense mechanism meaning: to create excuses to justify failures, and/or shortcoming. Keep your head up partner

People hated Dennis Rodman too. He was an agitator and got into peoples heads. He rode a few coattails as well. He has 5 rings. Hank, the only thing you are missing is a wedding dress and some hair dye.
