Bloomington Crit

Nice video (until the end) from Eric Anderson. Looks like the chap from Team Upland went a little hot into the final corner, Kevin Depasse lost the rear and the rest in ugly!

Eric are you using a "Go Pro" camera and if so are you mounting it to your bars?

Kind of looks like the Bake House guy slid out.

Now I see it. Yes the 1st palce Upland guy was right up againts the curb and the Bake House guy was just following his line.

To All Cyclists,

The Scholars Inn Bakehouse family is so proud to be a part of such a great event. The talent level is truly amazing. Thank you all for making last Saturday a day to remember. Lastly, a special thanks goes out to Tom Saccone. Your thankless efforts are always way beyond the call of duty. You have without a doubt enhanced the quality of cycling in Bloomington.

Race recaps??!! Inquiring minds (that were stuck out of town) want to know!

Eric Anderson said...

Wes, yes it's a GoPro, and I have it mounted on my stem.

To Hans, the 3/4 race was a whole lot of nothing. Everyone setting the pace/going on the offensive during the race was involved in the crash pretty much.

In the main event, a group of 4 (including John Grant) had a gap of 20 seconds at one point, but other than that it was just strung out. Panther had 3 on the front with one to go, but Roadhouse took the lead on 6th and held it up Kirkwood.

Geraint Parry said...

Hmmm that's intriguing. Panther w 3 up front yet it looked as though John Grant was first on Kirkwood. It's a short lap, how did that happen? Some argy-bargy on the back side of the course perhaps?

Grant jumped our train with 2 corners to go. I could have pinched him but that probably would have caused chaos. Knapp and Uberti had to jump around me and by then it was too late. Kudos to Grant I never thought he would jump so early. Good racing.

Thanks Eric for the recap. I dont know why I stayed in the 1st turn. (maybe could not pass the red stripe)

i think the Texas Roadhouse guys are good racers, strong riders, and generally decent dudes---but how come they're all so white besides Tolson. Do they have some SPF100 sunblock sponsor? 1-2 dudes make knapp look like a Mexican or something.

must be a requirement to get on that team

Just a congrats to my old man! A 53 year old winning the 4/5 and doing top 10 in the 3/4s. Such a fun race in such a great setting (besides the 7th and dunn death trap). Wish I could have been there as well this year!

Everyone gets lucky once in a while. Winning a 4/5 is not impressive and probably the only reason he finished in the top ten was because everyone else wrecked

Winning any race is impressive.

Winning the 4/5 may be more impressive than winning any other race -- you have to survive through 45 minutes of carnage and then sprint. Which apparently Anonymous 11:59's buddies couldn't do in the 3/4. #sourgrapes #followedacrappyline

I find it humerous how Upland riders tweet about how perfectly set up their lead out train was but if it was so wonderful why was a Scholar's guy in front of them? They didn't race well and their after party at Nick's sucked too. Their guys are a bunch of hermits

a perfect leadout train doesn't cause a massive crash

cutters beat upland any day

The upland guys rode a hell of a race! They were at the front for 45 minutes and put in a number of surges and attacks that required marking. Their leadout was well-formed when the unfortunate crash happened.

Overall, the representation and organization that the Upland guys have shown this year has elevated midwest Cat 3 racing. Races no longer finish in mass sprints with asses, elbows and handlebars spread curb to curb. I prefer the higher caliber racing. Say what you want, but I'd rather loose to a well-organized Upland rider than to someone who posts under "anonymous".
