As cyclocross builds up to Louisville 2013, a reminder as to why those of us at the bottom end do it: not only for the chicks but also for the laughs! Consider our 'all category' races in the UK where 150 riders rock up at the beginning...total carnage!

Thanks to jason for the heads-up.

LOL that's a cat 4 race for sure didn't need the color comintary to figure that out

Was that knapp leading?

Anonymous said...

Why aren't the cutters on Strava? Afraid those chubby little shits won't conquer any KOM's?

Anonymous said...

I so love the negativity on this page. It really is what makes BVN special.

Anonymous said...

I like to think of it as constructive criticism

Strava knows all. Check out the new twitter handle @LazyLil5Rider, great stuff from this person

Who is it behind the account?

lolz @ anderson's new blog post. He makes it sound like he actually rides his bike.

http://betacycling.com/?p=895

Anonymous said...

Remember that time Anderson got dropped at every TNRS...

Beta sucks. They will be virtually a non factor this year. Anderson is terrible, Green smokes, Kragie will probably crash the field several times, and Laser is their one and only hope.

Anonymous said...

85 miles today no sign of the Cutters I heard a rumor that they have the old Soviet decompression chamber and are working inside of it.

Anonymous said...

Check out this cat. The big dawgs next to take notes...

Too bad he "sucks more dick than a Kardashian," at little 5. More miles, less barrier jumps. No pun.

Anonymous said...

holy shit miles is the best damn bike racer I have ever seen. Someone get him a contract on Garmin. He is going to win the tour de fucking france

Anonymous said...

rumor has it knapp is behind one of the fake L5 accounts

R.Knapp said...

I can 100% guarantee that I am not behind any twitter accounts other than my own. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

who created the fake R.Knapp Google account? We all know the real Ryan would have a more update picture of himself...

Anonymous said...

Why do L5ers do 3-4-5 hour rides? the whole race is 50 miles and they ride maybe 4 miles at a time. is that aerobic base needed?

Anonymous said...

Nope. Just keep lifting.

Anonymous said...

Yes, that base is worthwhile and those riding longer will be able to build more. "How much you will accomplish in the Build period is determined by what you now accomplish in the Base period." Good for L5, for road racing it's a must.

Anonymous said...

All good little 5 teams have riders that are good on the road. Riders who are committed to getting better often want to race the whole year and not just little 5.

Look at csf and SNU. Great at quals, decent at ITTs, but their endurance is shit and they get shelled in the race. L5 isn't a normal race. You have to be able to go hard and then recover which is where having an aerobic base is substantially helpful

@12:25 No hills in Little 5 dude

Anonymous said...

Hills=high watts=little 5.
By the transitive property you can go fuck yourself

Anonymous said...

That makes no sense.

McDonald's on Walnut said...

More weight @ same speed = more watts. See? All this time, Harbison has actually been perfecting his natural weight belt for an advantage on hill repeat training.

If you want to win Little 5, you have to be willing to eat a lot of McDoubles.

Anonymous said...

Im more of a whopper kinda person, will that still work?

Anonymous said...

I'm more of a funfetti cake type of person

Wes said...

Everyone has the same gear it's who can turn it faster.

Anonymous said...

I heard the cutters put a different gear on their bike.
If Harbisson lost the weight and kept his watts, he would be a hell of a rider. Fortunately weight doesn't matter too terribly much on the flats. It's more of a wind resistance dealio.

Anonymous said...

Even if Sam lost 20 pounds, Kevin would still shit all over him.

Anonymous said...

I heard Cleveland steamers are a cutters tradition anyway

Anonymous said...

how did sam possibly get onto upland for 2013?

Anonymous said...

Probably by being a good rider, likely better than you. Any other questions?

Anonymous said...

he's on the cutters. A bunch of mediocre riders that get on good teams due to connections. Nixon is their best rider. Walsh was good last year. The rest are nothing to worry about

Anonymous said...

Depasse and Nixon are cat 2's. Eric Anderson as well. No one else out of the whole field can say they are on their level if USAcycling deems them more highly skilled then 3's, 4's, and 5's that make up the field. Its as concrete as that. Harbison & Walsh are fast too.

Not dave stoller apologizes for his twitter.

Hahahhahahahahahahhahahaha Anderson better than the field? I think I just shat myself laughing so hard.

Anonymous said...

@ G. You're an idiot. Please remove yourself from this site if you really think that's true

Anonymous said...

November 26, 2012 10:00 PM, Upland's a good team?

Anonymous said...

I think so. I raced with them all summer. Shean is fast, they work together really well except for 1 or 2 guys. They are up and coming and with new signings for their 1/2 squad they should be good for 2013. Plus they are sponsored by upland, thats pretty neat.

Anonymous said...

Walsh is somewhat fast but also the man. He's solid.

Anonymous said...

Shitty layout, but will probably moderate the stupid comments better than this site (assuming anyone will comment).

Anonymous said...

Assuming they actually post anything.

Anonymous said...

Remember the last few websites that monitored comments:

Pedals and Spokes (the original) = dead

Pedals and Spokes II = dead

Pedals and Spokes III = dead

Moderating comments only works in China. If you don't like the content, add something better.

Those are all dead because the trolls overwhelmed the relevant posts. It just takes the trolls a bit longer to find the new site.

Geraint Parry said...

Good luck to the new site. BVN has obviously suffered from the trolling that has made it a little ridiculous. I could have removed all those comments but to be honest didn't have inclination. I don't feel as though the good quality comments were being prevented, they just weren't there (I have removed Anon posts a few times but that results in zero posts so it's not as if the trolls are keeping away debate).

I don't live in Bloomington so don't feel able to update as often as I once did which is a shame. I feel more regular posts drove the agenda and kept the trolling to a minimum...it's just i am not setting the agenda as I once did. It was quite time consuming to do that but it was of course enjoyable but it doesn't feel very relevant for me to do that now as much.

I'll keep posting but I have always said I would like other people to post but that mostly hasn't happened.
Whoever has the keys to BB didn't want to contribute here so I hope they bring something fresh to the table.

BVN: approaching 500,000 page views and not dead yet!

If it were my blog I'd make users reg. and eliminate anno.

Hey Anon 10:37, if you're going to take a screenshot of my FB post and put it on your blog you really need to introduce yourself (and ask my permission). That is a total netiquette foul.

Fred

Anonymous said...

I second Fred's comment. If you're trying to brand yourself as the "anti-BVN" maybe being anonymous isn't the best route to go....

1:1 IUCC makes it to nationals, it's not that hard to do in the grand scheme of things (something like 6 D1 teams qualify), and they are dedicated.

4:1 Cutters wins L5. Believe it or not there are other teams out there.

1:1 Fred Rose is engaged, congrats to you and Liz.

1:1 The comment above is made by an idiot.

Also Fredy, don't post stuff on FB if you don't want people to see it. Pretty simple concept really. Once it's on the internet, it's available to the public.

@4:56 It will have anon posting. BUT, anything that does not further discussion of Bloomington Bicycling or has malicious intent will be taken down.

My apologies Fred, the screenshot has been removed. GP - nothing against BVN, just trying to offer a different spin on things from a different pair of eyes.

That being said, I hope you guys like the new layout of the blog. www.BloomingtonBicycling.Blogspot.com
Look for a post Monday or Tuesday.
