''When it came out, I remember driving to a theater in Westwood with my brother [Randy] and his girlfriend, and there was a line around the block. I was like, 'How did all these people know about this movie?' It was shocking!'' —Dennis Quaid
Look at the results from last year. None of the Cutters did well in collegiate cycling. Depasse is unarguably their best and what has he done? The rest of the IU A's will post better results than them this year. That said, why don't the Cutters do anything with IUCC? They separate themselves intentionally and frankly I think they bring the hate upon themselves.
It is really unfortunate that they choose to keep themselves separate from other teams. You look at the guys working together to try to make it to nationals, the are from Beta, Delts, DU, Theta Chi, etc. They are the frat boys that stereotypically are suppose to be segregated and against mingling with the opposition, but that isn't the case here. They are working for a cause bigger than themselves, they are trying to give IU a reputable road cycling program again and I applaud that effort. I was always under the impression that the Cutters was the team to promote all aspects of competitive cycling, I guess I was wrong.
...yes, you were wrong. The Cutters seem to care about Little 5 and Little 5 only. They'll do some IUCC races, but when they get shelled at Lindsey Wilson just like all the other IUCC guys, they don't really care. It's not that they don't get along with all those other dudes, it's that what they enjoy most is training with their own team, doing their own workouts, and focusing on winning one race. During the summer when everyone stops riding, they race with each other and whoever else wants to. It's not their responsibility to "promote" IUCC, they're just a focused group who gets a bad reputation for it. Asking the Cutters to train with IUCC is asking them to ride for a "bigger cause" that they don't particularly care about, so that's worthless. And let's see what all the IUCC guys choose to do when they're making a decision about doing Miss 'N Out or going to Michigan for some road race, will they still be riding for the bigger cause then?
Does anyone remember when riding bikes was fun? When it comes down to it, whatever we do as riders (whether focusing on IUCC or Little 5) really bears no consequence compared to what we're really doing here at IU. I fully expect that many of these people will graduate and will get a job and will have to put away their racing career for good.
I met a former member of team Gafombi and Nuvo rider who only gets to ride on the weekends because he has kids. I hate to say it, but this is the end that most of us are working towards, and he was a Little 500 champion. I know that this is a hard truth.
My point being: Why can't we all just enjoy riding bikes? In a few years, no one will be talking about how good you were at riding unless you make it into a career. No one.
^ speak for yourself. There is a whole world outside Little 5. If you think it stops on the cinders or after college you need to broaden your horizon and see the world of road cycling. Not all of us will be in cubicles for 12 hours a day and plan to race our who life. You are right, it doesn't matter if you are a 5 or a 1 but I plan to continue racing well after little 5.
marian is getting drug tested? somehow I doubt they "wont have a team anyways", they arent the US Postal Service team and wont be put on trial for PED's. They are college athletes, not major league pro's. Get yours

Pretty sure they are going to go to Michigan.
