IUSF Fall Cycling Series

This is a reminder to all that the IUSF Fall Cycling Series will be taking place this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Unfortunately, registration closed yesterday, but for those not participating, come on out to watch! Thursday will be the annual Little 500 bike Cyclocross event on and around the track at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The weather looks like proper cyclocross weather, so participants should enjoy some mud and cowbells (hopefully) - spectators come watch as riders tackle the challenges of hay bales, stairs, track-pavements transitions, and more! Friday will be a new spin on an old event - the Duathlon. This year the Duathlon will take place both at and around Bill Armstrong Stadium with some running on Jordan Ave followed by 2 miles on the cinder Little 500 track and then some more running down to Assembly Hall and wrapping up at the Hall of Champions Concourse. Saturday will bring the now-annual Street Sprints competition on North Jordan Ave. This is probably the most exciting event in which participants will drag race from a dead stop down North Jordan in an all-out sprint.

Series information can be found here: http://iusf.indiana.edu/little500/rider_info/Fall%20Series%20App%202011%20w%20bike.pdf

The official IUSF Press Release can be found here: http://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/19893.html?emailID=19893

Hope to see you all there either riding or spectating! Maybe you'll see some entertainment like this:

What time Thursday?

Anonymous said...

anon 4:33pm - 7pm women, 8pm men

anon 5:47pm - yes, all on L5 bikes

Cutters Walsh if they are doing it

Todd said...

Bigger question is, will Phi Delts practice exchanging just before the street sprints start?

alley fruit said...

Low blow Todd. However it was a funny low blow,

Anonymous said...

Delts have an unfair advantage. Ken shows up with bike stands and trainers. It's street sprints for Christ sake.

Anonymous said...

maybe other teams should find people like him to support their team and quit whining

Anonymous said...

Ken is the man. Best bike builder in Bloomington history.

Sasha land and Clayton Feldman get that title hands down sorry dipshit

Oh look what we have here, its a macho Cutter who is afraid to sign their name while insulting someone. I thought you Cutters were so tough that you wouldnt do that? I think Sasha is a fantastic mechanic and Im sure Clayton is too, but both of them were still shitting their diapers when Ken was building bikes for winning teams in Little 5. I am pretty sick of this false bravado from you kids who think they are better than everyone else. Why dont you reevaluate what you said and call Eric Young for a lesson in class.
He cant bail your ass out this year.

John - class of 73

"but both of them were still shitting their diapers when Ken was building bikes for winning teams in Little 5"

And those teams would be?

Tom why don't you ask Ken if hes ever built a bike thats won the Little 500. Take notice in the fact that I was not insulting Clayton or Sasha who Im sure are fine mechanics. But if youre trying to say something negative about Ken, id probably start talking about how your bikes have failed in the past including BKB. Ken has built winning Little 5 bikes and all im doing is defending the guy who was insulted for no apparent reason here.

John from 73-- I'm no cutter, but why so angry...chill out bro. And no point in calling people out for going anonymous. Maybe there are some cutters posting on here, doesn't change the fact that the only names we ever see around here are Todd, Hank, Woj, Patch, etc. (few exceptions of course). Spread the good word my brother, the love.

OKEY-DOKEY, it's a build-off! I'm calling for a good ol'fashion bike build. Bare bones to race ready. Added points for a little flair and zest. My money is on Ken.

Who's bringing the scotch?

Tom said...

Ken didn't get on this forum and claim to have built winning Little 500 bikes, you claimed he did. I know how many he has done and that number is zero.

Ken's involvement in the race started in 1988 when he aligned the frames of the Acacia Little 500 bikes. He was involved with the DZ bikes in 2006 and became even more involved in 2007. He brings a level of knowledge to Little 500 and the Delts realize that to their benefit. (For that other poster, Ken is not the only person who brings a bike stand and trainers to Street Sprints. It is not being cocky, it is being prepared.)

If you are going to defend Ken, do so with the facts. And I don't see how "John - class of 73" provides any more clarity than "Anonymous" does.

I don't prefer being called a dipshit for no apparent reason other than saying a nice thing about Ken. So if that was you, I'd say that you should chill out and spread the good word, the love.

Ken, if you read this do you find this as funny as I do?

Also, why does everyone love to hate on Tom? A broken chain isn't something you can pin on the builder.

Thanks for the compliment as well, I do think I am a good looking mechanic, kind of an odd place to post that about Sasha and myself though.

ps. My money is on Sasha.

New series event!!! Only issue is, can a team have a non-student or will there be a alum vs student category?

Anonymous said...

The only facts that were wrong are about Clayton and Sasha being in diapers in 1973. You are in fact wrong Tom, and it's not the first time. How embarrassing for you.

Tom said...

I just talked to Ken, and when we both got done laughing, he reminded me that he did the Teter bikes the last two years (so I stand corrected), but he did agree that my bikes have more flare that anyone's.

Tom was wrong for the first time ever. I can't believe I was alive to witness it.

Tom said...

I love it when people bring up the BKB chain. My bikes have done over 7500 race laps and one chain in 2007 is all anyone wants to talk about. And all I did was adjust the rear wheel before the race.

am i missing something? aren't these shipped as stock bikes that these peoples just assemble? Would it really be possible to have a bike assembly pissing match? Good. you put a bike together. You too, good. you put a bike together. Oh, and you too, good job. you assembled a bike without forgetting to torque something important.....???

Anonymous said...

you are definitely missing something. completely and definitely.

Anonymous said...

@Anon 12:19, my safety reflectors look better than your safety reflectors.

Anonymous said...

ken is a great guy and he builds the best bikes each year.

Anonymous said...

and as far as street sprints. my money is on dick

Anonymous said...

Rex will win sprints assuming cutters aren't doing fall series. If so Walsh wins.
-all knowing

Anonymous said...

Walsh! Walsh! Walsh!

Anonymous said...

At anon 12:19pm - you're completely ignorant aren't you?

Anonymous said...

So who won?

rumor has it there were a couple of ambulance rides...any truth to that?

Anonymous said...

Anon @1:31,

There was 2 notable wrecks at SS yesterday, both were girls. 1 was an OTB situation and needed stitches, but walked away. 2nd was some sort of a wreck that involved a helmet break, so she was boarded and went to the hospital in an ambulance. The second girl was released after clean x-rays and CT scans alike later.

Who won the men's Street Sprint?

Todd said...

Ali -

This post is for you.

Anonymous said...

That's ironic cuz I'm pretty sure the cutters have all but owned this race since their existence. I think I read somewhere in the ids that their average race finish is like 1.6 or something? Not to mention the 12 wins. Say what you want but that is downright impressive
-Lance

Anonymous said...

The Cutters average race finish is 3.54.

Anonymous said...

Todd, what post are you referring to? All I see is a picture. And why is Ali acting like a child unless that was a fake poster which it probably was.

Todd said...

Without the deleted post, mine makes little sense. Mine was in direct response to that.

Anonymous said...

No I saw the deleted post, but all I saw was a picture in your post. was it a blog post or just the pic you were referring to.

Anonymous said...

Are the DG girls getting worse or what? Losing Kent is going hurt them; think they hit the cookie jar and kilroys a little too much rather than riding. Thought they would have been a little better and in shape...

Anonymous said...

How come they didn't do a writeup for the series events since they wrote an article about it happening. i'd like to know about it. They don't have the results for Street sprints either.

Todd said...

Anon 2:15pm - the deleted post told me to stop posting, so I simply responded, "this post is for you."

There's nothing more to it.

Anonymous said...

Wow, no post Fall Series breakdown? This blog is getting lame. No shit talking either?

Were the cutters too cool for Fall Series? Where were they? PDT? You'd think that at least the the guys on Riders Council would compete.

Any thoughts GP from across the pond?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I'm surprised Tom didn't do a writeup since he was there the whole time and does write ups.

Anonymous said...

Cutters never do fall series and PDT is trying to mimic everything they do because they think it's their year to shine. If cutters don't take it again my money is delts
