stirring the pot...

From @jason_fowler and legit:

'‎4hrs with the Cutters today. 40 degrees, thunderstorms, sleet, pouring rain. Brutal conditions. Didn't see anyone else out on the road'

Sounds like Little 500 2013 is already won. Book it!

IUCC mens A's are riding 5 hours tomorrow. I didn't see Marian out today on my ride? Sounds like Collegiate Nationals 2013 is already won!

Ps: Fowler, Kai brother!

Gcracker you're a queer first off everyone knows you and Stuart give each other reach arounds in his altitude tent. Secondly iucc will never hold a finger to the likes of Marian, I don't care if you rode 20 hrs a week with the use of drugs you couldn't hang. They own the road. Cutters have been on the something the whole time. Why waste your time and money to lose? They're loaded with pros every year and you're trying to rallying a bunch of dummies that spin all day,..tell Stuart CPS wants his girlfriend back too.

Anonymous said...

If everyone followed the "well they are better so don't even try" then no one would ever ride a bike, that is such backward thinking. Glad to hear that this is the kind of thinking of the bloomington community. Kudos to the IUCC group for taking a chance. Only good things can come of it.

Anonymous said...

Agreed but who can blame the cutters because as much talent as there is its always going to be little five team bias while racing IUcc. Most wouldn't even dream about taking a dig for a top little five competitor; hell no. People can speculate all they want but it's about winning little five and that's it. GD is just pissed because he can't ride or he'd have the same feeling

Anonymous said...

Wow, is everyone here so thick they don't see the sarcasm dripping from Graham's comment? Let me break it down for you. Just because you don't see someone out riding when you were, doesn't mean they weren't riding. Object permanence people, other teams exist even when you can't see them. That being said, Cutters are still going to win.

We didnt see LA dope, but he certainly did. If you dont see me train does that mean I didnt? A tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it?

I still think Momper gunna take the W this yr. he thinks he is

Anonymous said...

BKB is a joke. Brants overweight and kinn thinks he's going to win it all. That new rookie miller is falling for it. There only shot was last ur with Rex and Miss and possible with JB few years before. They will never amount to anything other then top 15 finishes. Also spencer is joke if he thinks he is actually gunna ride this year.

Anonymous said...

Having a average 6th place finish every year is considered a joke? Interesting.

Anonymous said...

How many wins do they have? Oh right...

No one remembers 2nd place, let alone 6th place.

I saw fowler the other day lubing up a whimpering Depasse(post another crash) under a tree in dunn medow whispering, "shhh child... daddy jason is here"

Anonymous said...

Whispering sweet nothing's saying "shh my child Eric young is here save the day"

Anonymous said...

Depasse gets a lot of shit on here but he is by far the most tolerable cutter. That little patches kid is the obnoxious one. Running his mouth like he has ever done shit. That little hipster looks like a meth head.

On behalf of IUCC I can say that we don't have any problem with people or teams that don't come out and join. We don't hate, nor do we think we are better. At the end of the day we are all just trying to find the motivation to get out the door and chase our dreams.

From Twitter:

"Patches:@rshean ridding w/ IUCC, shame on you."

Kevin: @patchpockets @rshean they've got a passion.. Can't argue w that.

If BVN posters wants to keep talking shit about the cutters, just know it's not from us.

Cutters like to take their rides with a side of pneumonia. I understand there is something to be said about roughing the elements but there is also something to say for being cautious in adverse conditions. One look at Brodell's knee would tell you that the cutters like to put their egos before their safety, and honestly that makes for one cyclist I would be happy to avoid.

Paul Smith is 10:10 pm poster guaranteed. Sorry "velominati" no matter how much you try to get riders to get along you will always have pricks on both teams. I mean look at patches tweet.

Anonymous said...

Spend more time riding your bike like the Cutters do and less time on BVN. Fall Series is over with so theres nothing else exciting happening except IUCC rides. In other words, any teams going on trips for winter break workouts? Phi Psi going to California again?

Anonymous said...

Nobody gives a fuck about phi psi

Anonymous said...

Well, I have to say that I think it's pretty tasteless to cite Brodell's knee as evidence that the Cutters put their "egos before their safety." As far as Little 5 cyclists go, I've seen no single person have to endure as much bad luck as he has and still show up every day to ride. A freak accident with a car (we've all ridden around unpredictable drivers) and a pretty nasty crash at the beginning of the past summer's road season are not testaments to recklessness. Rather, the fact that he trains, comes out to Tuesday Night Racing, and still advocates cycling at all should serve more as an example of the dedication the Cutters have. A dedication that I deeply respect.

On the flip side of that, it's very upsetting to see tweets such as the one sent by patches. However, it's hard to know the spirit with which it was sent (though yes, it can be inferred). I just really would hate to see party lines drawn between IUCC and the Cutters because of the aforementioned respect that I have for them. From having spoken, albeit briefly, with some of the Cutters, they all are upstanding guys who would reciprocate both that feeling and that respect.

Undeniably, being a good cyclist does require some bit of ego, and that is reflected frequently here on BVN. Friendly competition is motivating and welcome, but let's not make personal attacks against cyclists that we should be modeling our attitudes after, at the very least.

Anonymous said...

No, the bottom line that 12:10 brings up is a holistic understanding of the the community we are all a part of. Excellent, Excellent post. Respect, Chechu.

A mindset like yours is just as important as physical skill. It's what allows you to think positive on mile 86 and surge when most people would instantly think negative and give into the pain. There is something symbolic there..

BKB has the best average finish of any startup team in the history of L5. They have only existed for 7 yrs, never finished outside the top 10. Albeit they've not finished higher than 3rd. And, don't want to hear any Cutter BS. They are just Delta Chi in drag. They didn't start anything from scratch, just picked up the bike team out of their frat and stole a iconic name that didn't even belong to them. All of their 'records' should read Delta Cutter Chi and be dated from DC's first race in 1954. Try and start a L5 team from scratch and see how well you do. If you even qualify for the race.....

Anonymous said...

Ok black key bulls whatever you say. I think you are trying to convince yourselves more than us that you guys are "good." Why don't you just stop posting about yourselves on BVN and just go make it happen. Write your story don't tell it.

Why did GP publish this post in the first place? I find it ironic that he removes comments that go too far or are too mean, yet he is basically asking for people to do that with this post. Don't try and start stuff just for the sake of drama..This thread is a great example of irresponsible blogging. Maybe at the end of the post instead of saying the race is won, ask who else rode in the rain that day?

Wright: bunch of geeds no chance
Forest: all frosh no chance

sig ep overrated. sure nick is good but the guy has swimming background what do you expect. beta haha eric whines and cries on the iusf friday rides WHEN he shows. Also WHY would anyone seriously considered paying and staying for a 5th year for L5 race that outside of IU means NOTHING! They will finish top ten but kragie will crash out of course.

And people lets not hate of dew he's good guy that just is latterly "too good for school" so to speak

You forgot Austin. But like i said why make the comparison to cutters? Lets talk about Graham RJ Paul Becker Turner Charlie, Austin vs. the other collegiate teams not their own colleges riders. 6:31 is clearly an iucc rider so I ask you do you know your competitors?

-matt brandt lindenwood along with johnathon freter, feehry.
-colton barret, leibovitz, johnson, luzzader- marian
-Hogan- Purdue
-meyer-wisconsin

the list goes on but please. if your gonna be off the bike on the internet go spend your time stalking their resumes not on bvn posting backwards ass posts about your own school vs. your own school.. go do your hwk stop making us look bad. people are aware of iucc in bloomington no need to self promote, we need to make others aware. only way to do that is through our legs, not keyboards

-not austin

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Calvetti.

Anonymous said...

overused phrases on BVN:

1. "let your legs do the talking" - Legs can't talk
2. "spend more time on your bike than internet" - Most posts take less than 2 minutes.. Lotta good training could be done in that time
3."Cutters smell bad"- accurate

Anonymous said...

if Brad and RJ ride, then Grey Goat will definitely be a contender. Haven't seen either of them out much but Brad's sprints results were strong.

Anonymous said...

I like brad but he won't have nearly the endurance. RJ is a prick and frankly the typical douchebag triathlete who brings the wrong image to endurance sports. I've never met someone who likes that kid. Little 5 would be better off without him.

Anonymous said...

Cutters had a better shot last year? Well with 3 guys back that all get stronger, and more experience the field must have gotten a lot better for that to be true. Also is there an RJ in this years field? It doesn't look like it. Paul Smith hasn't raced yet so it's not going to be easy for him to pull an RJ.

Anonymous said...

Paul Smith raced two years ago with Wright Cycling.

Anonymous said...

Jesus Christ...Todd fucking Neville. You need to regrow your hair before your opinion is valid. Your team's shit got rocked last year.

Anonymous said...

According to who? In BKB terms they would have been thrilled and that's crashing twice once being in the last 10-15 laps. Delts should be happy decrash went down or it may have been a different race. Kevin could easily sit on RJ and besides Stuart delts couldn't take the punch of Nixon and Walsh. Fatboy is another story but...Todd fucking Neville would destroy you on a bike right now I guarantee that. Ill buy you a plane ticket to that ass kicking

4. Delts
5. BKB

Anyone who says Beta is going to win either isn't in Bloomington or hasn't seen these kids ride a bike. Anderson sucks. He got dropped at TNRS. Kragie is good for a couple laps but he doesn't have any endurance. Laser and Green are both decent but no way could they pull out a win. It'll be Cutters Delts and maybe Theta Chi. Fiji and Sig ep will round out top 5.

Anonymous said...

Theta will be ahead of Teter. Kath can beat Lisa which is big. Emma can beat methered, but Kate has got Ashton. 4 person won't matter. Wing it will still win, Moeller is dedicated.

Anonymous said...

Switch Beta with Sig ep or Delts. Although Beta never really trains in the fall just to be fair.

Its gonna come down to Delts, SIg Ep, Cutters.
2nd tier is Beta.

after that idk...

Anonymous said...

anderson i can hate on this guy all day. gets dropped on all iusf rides and TNRS. Kraggie sure he has a sprint he will have to do too much work and wont have it in his legs by the end. Green=bad form. laser nothing really notably to say.

Watch out for theta chi. John and Tuner & Rookies are putting there time in+ new coach=success

Sig ep overrated stop talking about them.

Cutters should be solid...if there no crash

Delts.....Sapp and Phil will hold on. Paul might mix things up if there is a large field crash...think Hans back from 2006. Momper...hmm i think he is an alcoholic not sure.

Fiji: charlie has potential we will see. idk any other of their rides tho

Weight is a serious concern, especially when you have to climb mountains, so being in shape for the road, as is the case for IUCC is a very different goal than being in shape for the track, especially for women. I would say that the girls who focus on road racing (not crits) are very (or should be) aware of this. It is no different for the guys. There is a huge difference between an eating disorder and being aware of the calories you are taking in.

Regarding that comment at Brodel, stop. Not only is that ugly, its uninformed. A car crossed lanes on 446, and it easily could have been my teammates out there that day or no cyclists at all. No one decides that when stepping out their front door.

I'm hoping this blog requires people to sign in sooner to clean up the petty bickering and outright jabs; its no wonder the l5 community is so polluted and hateful.

Getting hit by a car isn't an experience to make fun of or criticize... especially Brodell's accident, as it was not his fault at all. He was in the hospital for a week, had to get multiple surgeries, ended up back in the hospital multiple times for blood problems and went through months of physical therapy. The fact that he got back on a bike is something to admire, it shows a passion and dedication that some of you clearly do not understand. Shame on all of you who have tried to turn it into something negative.

@6:38,
You have shown your true class and the fact that you suck at life. Hope I get to meet you someday to say that to your face. I love trash talk as much as the next guy but there is a line & a certain amount of respect that comes with it. Was it borderline nuts that we did 4hrs in that weather? Heck yeah it was. But that was the training that was planned for the day & when the weather went bad, the entire team was committed to complete it. We have done that same thing for the past 6 years and we have had a decent record come race day.

You can criticize our training, make fun of the apparent ego's that all of the riders and alumni have, call us fat, call us slow, say that we aren't going to win this year, & whatever else you want. But don't make fun of the team or individuals for an accident. It can happen to anyone, even on the cinders, and often times the person that is hurt the most did nothing wrong & couldn’t do anything about it. It's a miracle that we didn't lose the entire team that day. I received the panicked phone calls from the crash site, I talked to the guys, I saw the pictures, it was terrible. And then you come on here and make fun of someone for that day & a life threatening injury. You’re straight up pathetic and have alot to learn in life.

Who gives a shit about Momper?

That kid is drinking and smoking himself into an oblivion. Think about those washed up high school football players who still talk about their glory days 20 years later. That is going to be Momper about L5. I'd rather have him on delts than my team. Easily going to be the biggest let down on the track this year.

that momper comment is the widest comment ive ever seen, props to you... you're an idiot. @4:21 he still has a ring, which is more then most people can say, so he is obviously doing something right

"hatas gonna hate" Courtney Bishop

@4:52 He got on a team with RJ Stuart. Not exactly rocket science.

@3:54 Q you bring up some good questions! They are actually something I would find informative and productive to know.

Nuvo got fresh meat and then "john beaker" ate it all.

Cutters have nice bikes because that's the only thing they spend their tiny budget on. No flying to California for training trips, they pay their own way to Florida and save money by building their own bikes and doing everything themselves rather than paying some idiot to do the same thing any cyclist should be able to do anyways.

Anonymous said...

It's not nuvo anymore its bissel. And pretty sure you have to be a cat 1 or 2 to ride for them like Depasse. COuld be wrong tho.. but doubtful

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

holy crap, thats awesome!

Anonymous said...

harbison said strong black. Not the weak sauce that guides a team to sit 4th wheel until finally they get across the line first on a miracle year.

I said it was a dumb comment because I do not know of any crank that bends when you put your body weight on it. Find me one and show me that it's the crank most likely to end up on a L5 bike and we'll chat.

PS, 0 fucks given about what cranks are on the bikes. 3 piece are just easier for everyone to put on correctly.

^ is that really nixon posting? if so snaps for using your name. Welcome the hate from these fucks on here

quit posting about dan kinn. I don't like the kid but that shit is annoying

Emily Loebig said sojka has a tiny dick and to top it off he's retarded. Ever listen to the kid talk?

Great idea, let's screw with Delt riders and coaches cause they certainly need some motivation toOUTRIDE and OUT-COACH the field again this year. Stupid.

Anonymous said...

Cutters have the best coaches hands down. Delts rode well last year but it had nothing to do with delts out coaching the cutters. Don't be an idiot

Anonymous said...

What are you talking about!?!? Steve doesn't coach them anymore,

Kris Zee said...

I can't wait to get 3 piece cranks on the bike, but that would require a rewrite of the manual to create narrowed guidelines. Then, do we run a track style setup with a spider and chainring or a BMX style with a sprocket? Unsealed bearing become a tough find for either option, and like it's been mentioned before, the cost goes through the roof.

Anonymous said...

You are going to have a long wait for 3-piece cranks.
