TP

TP pairing are out and the anticipated matchup is ONNNN! PDT vs DTD, for the West-bowl! Cutters-BKB and Beta-Sig CHi are others of interest. Theta vs DG looks to be the big clash on the Womens side. The trend for giving 2nd teams a run-out continues with the welcome return of LiSiHi and the PDT 3rd squad! DG and Wing-it B teams share the track...could this be a prelude to an anti-Teter pact on race-day?

Teter have the White jersey all sewn up to go with their Green and Yellow. All to play for on the Mens side with PDT in the top position.

How do they decide the pairings? Obviously it's not completely random but I cannot find any real pattern to it...

Anonymous said...

Nice pairings. Predicition:
Delts win opening round followed by PDT. PDT takes the win in the finals. Beta comes in a close 3rd.

Sigma Chi & Cutters follow in a distant 4th & 5th.

I think Beta will suprise alot of people and show how strong they really are

Anonymous said...

Delts and Teter in the finals...CVK will come back and beat the Delts by herself.

Todd said...

Phi Delt vs Beta in the final.

Of course I'm cheering for the Cutters, but I think that will be the match up.

What's the points system for scoring TP?

Anonymous said...

The 1st place team score 4 points, 2nd score 8 points, 3rd 12 points, and so on.

The spring series packet says that teams are seeded in team pursuit by order of qualification. That's not what they did here.

What would be cool to see is pairings based on the sum of top 4 ITT times, so that they are more evenly matched. There are some definite mismatches, so we might see some passing this year, which is a real disadvantage to the faster team.

Eric Anderson said...

I think the top 4 heats all make a lot of sense and won't see anybody passing, barring disaster.

Phi Delt (1) vs. Delts (5)
Cutters (2) vs. BKB (3)
Beta (4) vs. Sigma Chi (6)
Theta Chi (7) vs. Fiji (8)

Curious which mismatches you're seeing 3:47. I think SigEp will likely pass Amalgam, and Snu might pass Kappa Sig, but is the act of passing going to be the difference between making the finals or not? Being in the top 5 or not? I don't think so.

Also, if anyone's curious, Cutters won the practice race today. Delts (Lenard) and Phi Delt (Duwell) crashed in the mid 30's, Sigma Chi had dropped out by the time I got there around lap 20. Nixon rode the first 40 or so laps, then Harbison got on and failed to get a gap. Green chased his burn and Depasse had to chase down about a straightaway but fresh legs prevailed. We got Laser on with 5 to go but Depasse had followed Green's burn. Exchange, 2 laps, exchange, 2 laps. Walsh for the win. Laser pulled laps 45-49 chasing the Cutters which set up SigEp 2nd and BKB 3rd.

Delts suck beside RJ but he's a tool so delts suck all around

Anonymous said...

So the delts went after PDT again? Dont they know its the Cutters they should be wrecking at this point. Teams never learn - Cutters win again!!!

Anonymous said...

Cutters suck, Beta sucks, Phi Delts swallow.

Anonymous said...

All this hate on rj is hilarious. Can't wait till he kicks everyone's ass.

Anonymous said...

You mean like when Sharp pulled him around the track in the finals of MNO and then punked him out of two? Is that what you mean by kicking everyone's arse? Yeah I can't wait either!

Todd said...

Watch MnO again. Sharp was great, but RJ sandbagged that shit. Don't let him fool.

Anonymous said...

Race predictions:

Cutters 1
BKB 2
Sigma Chi 3
DTD 4
Fiji 5
PDT 6
Sig Ep 7
Acacia 8
Sigma Nu 9
Cru 10

Anonymous said...

Todd why would someone sandbag a MnO final? Is RJ also going to sandbag the L5 race when Delts places 3rd?

Anonymous said...

Phi Delt out of the top 5... Doubt it

Anonymous said...

Anyone else seeing husky lusky getting destroyed on twitter?

You'd think he would at least be smart enough not to talk shit to better riders over twitter.

I guess being a Cutter domestique didn't teach him much.

Anonymous said...

Todd - you usually have some half way valid points, but sandbag MNO finals. You are going to need to elaborate on that a bit.

Sharp set a blistering pace the entire finals, let RJ come around him on the neutral lap, got in perfect position and then jumped.

Todd...your thoughts?

Anonymous said...

@4:55 You're out of your damn mind of you think: SNu will be top ten, Fiji would be in the top five, or PDT will finish sixth and Beta will finish out of the top ten, as well as Theta Chi. SNu didn't pick up a bike until track opened. PDT is too deep to finish sixth even with a crash. Beta although crash prone will be favored on race day for a top five if Kragie can keep the rubber side down. I'm surprised you didn't throw CSF a top five placement as well, seeing how they fall off the back of the pack every two to three laps.

Any comments on the practice races?

Anonymous said...

cutters win.....again

Anonymous said...

how about the ladies?

Anonymous said...

Who cares about the practice race? Not a real race.

Anonymous said...

Wing It wins, Theta in second. Teter was a half lap down, as was Cru. Maybe a few other teams around, no real pack to speak of in the end.

To 8:02. First off I went to to the collegiate races this past weekend because I was in town and thought I would go support some old teammates and catch a good bike race; like any fan of cycling would do. I don't even know that dude talking all the trash nor does he know me. You can ask anyone that I was watching the race with (depasse's parents or girlfriend) and they will tell you that I said this guy was going far too fast to make this turn successfully, which I was right. I tweeted to Weston L. Who was in good position to contest for the win but this guys crash put a wash to that and suddenly this threatening character starts attacking me. Whatever not a huge deal. I'd appreciate it if you candyasses on here would put your names next to posts so I can make my rounds come little five and settle any disputes in person in a friendly manner over some choice beverages. I'm a fan of this event. Yes I talk a lot of shit but it's good for the race and it's nothing but competitive in nature in support of my former team. You can dog on me all you want but I'm always going to be that arrogant guy because more often than not I know what I'm talking about and have results along with prior coaching philosophies to back it up. So if anyone is willing to sac up I'm more than willing to listen next weekend. Go cutters and Collins women and good luck to all competing teams

Anon 8:08,

Todd is right, people do sandbag Miss n Out. Why you ask? Because they don't want to show their hand. Cycling is a poker game & the series events don't mean to much. The fastest/strongest sprinter in '09 did the same thing in Miss n Out & got second. Why? So that the field didn't know how strong he truly was. He later won the race that year. Can anyone name who won Miss n Out in '09? Yeah me neither.

So while some may call BS on Todd's comment, if I were RJ & I was truly that confident in my sprint, I wouldn't want to show that to Phi Delt or the other favorites. I'd wait for race day and get the last laugh.

Will you please shut up on bvn Eric? idk where you think u have info to offer when u clearly don't know how to ride yourself. Cough Cough..ITT, USAC results..bike handling etc.. Do you see Depasse, Morrow, sharp, Bortz..etc posting on her all the time? Please, STOP.

Anonymous said...

Hank why are you arrogant?
You have no results, you have no reason to brag, you've never accomplished anything outside of little 5.

Keep running your mouth but you have nothing to back it up with. Your results are dismal and your personality is worse.

For anyone interested USAC results for Hank http://www.usacycling.org/results/?compid=288571

Why does it matter if Eric posts here or not? He's not insulting anyone he's not posting bullshit like yourself. You clearly have nothing to add to the topic so maybe you should not post here. He's simply giving a recap of the days events. His personal results are not the indicator if he's allowed to answer someone's question. Where are your results? Your ITT times (not that those meant a damn thing this year anyway)?

Zachary Lusk said...

3 rings. We're talking little five genius not road racing. I ate McDonald's and drank beer all summer or else I would have done more than 15 races in 3 years don't ya think?

Eric I enjoy the updates and you're enthusiasm for L5. You're a great ambassador and it's a shame these simpletons don't get it and hide behind their keyboards like little girls. You've got the green jersey though so naturally there comes jealously. Go beta (behind cutters of course)

Anonymous said...

What's with Wing-It being paired with Melanzana, and Teter with Army? Those are some seriously unfair matchups. Wing-It and Teter should be facing off.

Anonymous said...

if they're meant to face off they'll see each other in the finals. you don't want to potentially have the same pair go head to head twice

Anonymous said...

How many laps was the practice race?

Todd said...

I really like Eric's posts and to Hank's point, his passion is fantastic and he is a great ambassador for the event. I hope he stays involved after he graduates.

8:08PM - see 9:20PM.

8:52AM - 50 laps.

Anonymous said...

If the cutters win again Im going streaking through campus! And I want Hank with me!!

Gooooooo Cutters!

Anonymous said...

So Teter gets in a wreck 25 laps into it and still is only half a lap down? I wonder what the result might have been had that not occured? Wing It and Theta are clearly strong.

Todd said...

Teter did not wreck. Misinformation by IDS.

Anonymous said...

Teter got their butts kicked and were down by more than a half lap. Wing it just rode them off their wheels.

Anonymous said...

Todd, what happened to Teter then?

Anonymous said...

I'm not Todd but I can tell you as an actual member of the team that Teter did not crash, Teter did not finish more than 20 laps of the race, and 2/3 of the Teter riders that did participate wore hoodies and rode around the outside of the track. Any contrasting observation is invalid.

Anonymous said...

Yah Teter didn't even try. First rider went hard and led essentially the entire time. Next two riders wore sweatshirts and spun their legs after their workout. Pretty funny to watch.

Anonymous said...

So nice to know that the 2-time defending champ takes these things so lightly. That's the Little 500 spirit they embody.

Anonymous said...

Tapering is supposed to be fun. As Cutters always say, the horse is in the barn. Now make like a tree and get outta here.

Anonymous said...

11:28: Teter trains hard all year, takes _all_ the official Fall and Spring events seriously and you trash their "Little 500 spirit" based on this one event (and there may be a perfectly good reason for their actions)? Give me a break...

Anonymous said...

Maybe it was an off / light day. Hard to blame a team for not wanting to mess up their chances for the race to do okay in a silly practice race.

Anonymous said...

most dangerous riders on the track:

men: green kragi duwell
women: girl who crashed the pack last year?

Anonymous said...

Track was sketchy, some riders are always sketchy, why risk it and wreck in a practice race? as people are saying I dont think teter has anything to prove after the fall and spring they've had. If teams weren't threatened with a 2 second penalty this wouldn't even be the stupid discussion that it is.

Anonymous said...

backstretch teams that crash solo and exchange into the pack. front0-stretch teams that think they're better than they are

Anonymous said...

Few thoughts- Eric is a rider I respect greatly, but I saw that miss n out and he didn't let d.r.r. "win by sandbagging." He was caught offguard. Maybe I am misinterpreting what he said, because I get it if he didn't want to show the world he could close a multiple bike length gap out of turn 4, but never was his gameplan to lose.

This year sharp made a similar move. If RJ had the ability to react and close it and didnt, I'm impressed and excited for the race. I don't think that was the case though. RJ does not have Erics speed.

Just my .02. And one other thing- since when did the ids and most teams take the practice races so seriously? Teter only riding the opening laps hard makes sense to me.

Anonymous said...

I think Teter was playing it smart. No point to go a risk anything just to win something which means nothing. If they go out and win TP then we know they have legs to win the race. If they go a get 4th or 5th then maybe they are not that strong and didn't want to show anything before the race by participating in the practice race.

My guess is they will be fine and will be one of the top teams come race day.

Anonymous said...

Let's get back to RJ and his resume. Did he really state that he was a 2009 race winner with Cutters? Does that make DTD the race favorite since they have a race winner?

Someone should check into when RJ switched from Cutters to Delts. I believe there is a deadline for which one has to meet when pledging a fraternity. What's the number for Delts nationals again?

Anonymous said...

I wonder if someone asked RJ if he was in a FRAT what his answer would be? Same with Smith, same with Coudright last year? Are any of Delts rider actually in Delts?

Anonymous said...

I smell a protest in the works. This would be a bad year for RJ to have to sit out for transferring teams. Although I am sure Courtney would not permit riders to bend the rules just to ride for him. That would be so out of character.

Anonymous said...

1-800-335-8795 is the number for DTD nationals.

I wonder what Date they will have for when RJ started pledgeship?

Anonymous said...

He used to be on the cutters? why is he not anymore?

Anonymous said...

Why did he not have to sit out a year?

Anonymous said...

I have seen the written word on the resume stating that RJ won Little 500 as a member of the 'Cutters'. Also says he was due to graduate in 2011, what's occurring here? Is there a case of double standards at DTD headquarters?

- from not a member of the Cutter family

Anonymous said...

If someone actually has a copy of this resume then send it to Jordan. He has a responsibility to investigate and look into the situation. Based on the comments here I would think you would want to examine;

Graduation date
When he left cutters and pledged Delts (the manual has a date listed)
Standing as a member of Delta Tau Delta (manual states you have to be a member and in good standing)

Again, the manual states that any rider/coach can question the eligibility of another rider and that IUSF will investigate. I would think this resume is all you new to at least raise RJ's eligibility into question.

Email it to Jordan

Anonymous said...

Is this not the same thing that you all criticized DTD for doing? How about you all just man up and face him in the race instead of playing games and worrying about everyone else. There are only two things you can control in little 500, your attitude and your legs. I suggest you all focus on those two, anything else won't help you keep up with RJ.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but just like Delts we feel, "so strongly about the rules and the integrity of the race that we just have to bring this issue to light."

I believe those were the words Delts used.

I have a copy of the Resume, however just because you say something doesn't mean that it happened. As such it doesn't prove anything. The hilarious part of the resume is that he never rode for the Cutter. A little fact check for everyone, he was actually riding with TMT before DTD just like James, so please get your facts correct.

Either way, let him ride the damn race.

Anonymous said...

I like that John Wooden quote. Is that Courtney's phone number there? If so hey Courtney, what does the resume stating that RJ riding for the Cutters say about RJ's character? For me that resume is a lie trying to get people to think he is somebody that he really is not.

If it acts like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Just because that person believes his character is great does not make it true.

I like that RJ is riding. He makes the race more interesting.

Anonymous said...

As I remember it, RJ never actually "rode" for TMT- meaning he didn't compete on in quals or the race for them, although he did train along side some TMT members. There is no rule against training with whoever you want, and neither is claiming allegince to any team. You could practice with team X and say you ride for team Y and in the end it doesn't matter at all unless you are riding the race for them.

Anonymous said...

Did he rally ride for the Cutters or is it the same situation?

Anonymous said...

what if you ride itt or miss n out for another team? does that count if you then switch teams the following year?
