First Blood to BKB and Teter as they win the Plug-in challenge! Not sure I understand the nature of the event from the IDS description but a win is a win! IDS article
Combined they did a total of 18 minutes I think including exchanges. The other bikes were not included in the race, just recording the sustained energy? They each did like 4 minutes and 15-30 seconds with exchanges counting as time and power.
The measurement was Avg Watts of the combined team in an 18 minute "race simulation" that constituted exchanges. The men avg was in order: BKB 390, DTD 373, SigEp 358, Beta Sigma Ep 353, AEPi 347, Phi Psi 335, SAE 335, Delta Chi 315, Forest 309, Wright 304, Lambda Chi 291 The women: Teter 261, DG 243, RideOn 227, Rainbow 221, Army 207, KD 206, Collins 192, ADPi 135.
Bigger guy is going to push bigger watts at same speed because of weight and wind resistance. My training partner is an inch taller and 10 lbs heavier. On flat, he is generally 10 watts higher at same speed.
If we are going get all geeky, then if this a demonstration of energy sustainability, they should be quoting total energy as Joules, not Watts - power is the rate of energy per second, although power is definitely a more useful measure for a cyclist.
The more familiar term of energy would be the kind-of dopey unit of kW-hr.

Did Chris West tell Clayton and Eric how to get a few more years of eligibility? That's the only way I see them crossing the line less than 5 laps down.
Nope, because right now I have both sides of the bet covered. On one side I have the Cutters winning (pretty good odds). On the other side, if another team wins, I know you're too big a pussy to actual sign your name to this (even better odds which is saying a lot) so I'm not out of the money. Almost no downside based on the odds.
Hey guys I'm really starting to take offense to this fat thing. Quit it! I know I'm a tad heavier than most on the scale but I'm big boned and I like Jiffy Treat so get off my jock.

So it was four 18 minute ITTs per team? Later the article says 20 minute team effort. I'm with GP that I can't tell how this really worked.
"In 18 minutes, each team produced an average of 180 watts."
the article breaks the "training w/ power code" of never announcing your numbers.

So 180 watt average for 18 minutes? That doesn't seem right.

Ok that makes more sense.
Not a great measure since it gives larger riders a huge advantage. Watts/kg would have been better. Interesting challenge tho.
Are you calling BKB fat?
Sigma Chi and Phi Delts - What do you guys think you could put out?
BKB's total weight: 837 lbs
May be a dumb question, but why would a power / weight ratio be important on a flat course?

because it still takes more watts to move a heavier object, also taking into account aerodynamic drag. from the scholars at wikipedia:
175 W for a 90 kg bike + rider to go 9 m/s (20 mph or 32 km/h) on the flats (76% of effort to overcome aerodynamic drag)
compared to
165 W for a 65 kg bike + rider to go 9 m/s (20 mph or 32 km/h) on the flats (82% of effort to overcome aerodynamic drag)

you forgot cutters at 666watts.
Rex Rafferty is easily the fattest kid on the track. I feel bad for the bike he has to ride. #farm
BKB= Burger King Boyz
Bigger than Hank? Doubtful I heard he once ate 3 big uglies at bubs?

I heard Rafferty ate one of the BKB rookies...
There's not much talk of cutters on here, thus not much talk at all.
Not much talk about the cutters because they aren't going to win the race this year.
I'll take that bet.

Anon Asshole
then you will lose money todd

Oh todd... you poor over confident man. I guarantee the cutters don't win this race. And I would be careful who you are calling a pussy.
Watch out guys, we're dealing with a badass over here.
There's no other name assigned to you, so I'll stick with it.
As for over-confidence, read my post carefully.
