Some would argue L5-fluff pieces and gossip could have truly blown this blog up. Well for all those folks, see this little story in the IDS....It DOES have a bike in the picture #slownewstime By the way if anyone new wants to contribute to this blog please let me know. All welcome and fresh ideas needed!

I just threw up. Though the uncut steerer tube sticking out of the stem is a nice piece of symbolism.
6-8 hours a week of training? Hey, slow down there buddy...
OK,
The bike is in the front seat and she's in the back?
The bike has its seat belt on, but he doesn't?
Seriously, there should be a caption contest for this photo.
I forgot to point out the "cool" wood bead seat cushion!
six to eight hours a week? what are the cutters doing again? twenty-five hours a week? who wins every year?
great to see L5 getting some press in the Fall!
As long as its about Little 500, eh?!
L5 is the real cycling in town
fluff indeed! it's kinda a silly article but come on it's the ids...
nice thomson setback seatpost though.
Good for Theta Chi! (and Chuck Taylor) Looking forward to seeing how the team is in the spring
typical little 5 bike. saddle pushed all the way forward and bars rotated down too much. why bother with the setback seatpost?
At 6-8 hours a week of training, it is apparent already.
I liked the article and agree with Ren Jay. As usual, you guys don't get it. Where else in the world can a dude get a chic by being an "average" cyclist? I know I sound like the old guy (partly because I'm getting there), but enjoy the experience of Little 5 because there's nothing like it!
College is crazy!
Justin Beiber hair doesn't win races.
neither does pubic like facial hair
Neither does knowing what Justin Beiber hair is.
There are only 4-5 teams a year that have the ability to win Little 5, there are another 4-5 teams who believe they can win and there are 20+ who know they have no real shot. If Little 5 was just about winning, it would not have the participation level or the viewership. So again, you are missing the point to this article.
this year only 1-2 teams have a chance at winning. cutters and sigma chi
Todd-This article has nothing to do w/ L5 and everything to do w/ gender roles in relationships. It's about this dude "still being able to make time for his girl" despite his other commitments, whatever those may be. It's about a frat guy and sorority girl. It sucks.
7:22- I agree completely the gender roles are very disturbing in this article and in the picture. Also says a lot about the Greek system as you point out, but this blog is about Bloomington cycling so I addressed that. Unless you're a hipster, saying, "I ride a single speed," isn't getting you a girl any place but at IU.
why are the gender roles disturbing? I always put my bike in the front seat and my girlfriend on the bike rack.
please, this article was about how FRATs are going to re-establish dominance in Little 500
so if any FRAT wins it's a victory? is this what it's come too? are the sigma chi bros going to cheer if pdt or delts win? that would be plain silly
10:17pm cutters??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEnzg4GQRGc
I would much rather be a Cutter. (Skip to 4:07) Maybe if the Cutters continue with this social movement other teams will have a chance to finally win.
I can assure you that teams like DTD, Sigma Chi, and PDT do not consider it a victory if a frat wins the race. For the teams that put in the time and passion a second place finish might as well have been a 10th place finish. For those teams there is no happiness at other's loss - only disappointment at their own.
delts has a history of celebrating 2nd place actually. watch 2009 race
If you spent the 50 years being an average at best bike team, coming in 2nd is a huge step in the right direction.
delts has been better than average in the past
last three years have been 2nd, 4th 4th, beyond that one 3rd and 5th in '75 and '76 and they have never been on the map. Check your facts.
average place in the little 500 would be 17th so obviously only results in the top 5 are above average...
Neibler took that house from only making the race due to another team's triple fault the year before he started riding to 2nd place his senior year. Built it from nothing, no alum support, no equipment and brought in coaches and riders that made them a team people talk about annually. So I don't see a problem in delts celebrating not just that race day but where they had come in 3 short years.
-Delts Alum
6-8 hours? Some teams ride that on weekends alone. Nice article about the couple but this kid isn't a rider he's a participant in little five. All frat teams do not resemble this mentality. In regards to dtd yes Neibler has built up a fine little program over there with the help of bending the rules and getting riders like coudright and Stuart who aren't even in the frat and pay no dues or anything. It's the same with phi delt. West doesn't do anything except ride. Not that this is an issue but don't go around praising a frat and it's morals and values when they picked you to solely ride. You're not a brother you're an independent wanna be that couldn't hack those other independent teams so just to jump on the good things we have going on.
5:36am:
You may have good points about frat stuff (or maybe not, I don't know and couldn't care less about that crap) but your are wrong here: "Nice article about the couple..." It's a terrible article.
that's the difference between the winners and the participants. some people don't care about anything other than first. just ask all those cutters alums on the fence with their 50+ rings
you are only if a frat if you got your balls hazed off.... if not, you're an independent or a 2nd rate social club.
ato will make its comeback this year
beta will win since dewart will be eligible this year
dunno about beta but the race should be more interesting this year without the best little 5 rider in history (young)
Interesting to whom? To those teams that "the best little 5 rider in history" beat over and over again, maybe.
The rest of us had a great time watching those races.
the rest of you were probably watching him ride away from you. for the spectators it was probably interesting for about 30 seconds until it became painfully obvious what the outcome was going to be. that's boring
"that's the difference between the winners and the participants. some people don't care about anything other than first. just ask all those cutters alums on the fence with their 50+ rings

Crazy talk!
@10:24
Unfortunately I am not eligible to ride in Little 5 while I attend IU. I guess I should have taken this frat bro's advice and only trained 6-8 hrs per week...
-Graham Dewart
who's dewart?
THE G-DEW. This kid, gotta love him!
Who will win womens team pursuit this year? wing it or teter? Kath might be able to be the new CvK.
Mens? Will Phi Delts pull it off since they have west back in full health? Cutters since they have a more balanced team? How about Delts...will stuart be able to step up and pull the entire thing?
Teter and Cutters win just last every year
Cutters didn't win last year you idiot. they weren't even in the finals.
PDT will definitely be strong, no doubt, and likely in the finals. I'm interested to see how Patch and Kevin to with the Cutters in TP. Otherwise Delts, Sigma Chi, and Acacia will be teams to watch out for.
Who is Kath? from Theta? Teter is too deep. There won't be another CVK for a long long time. Kath from Theta is built more like Kristi Hewitt, a 4 lap specialist.
Sigma Nu for the men.
Who cares about team pursuit. The race is all that matters
Sigma Nu can ride 1 ... maybe 2 laps fast, then they think its a crawling race.
Yes, that was a joke because they are the biggest joke in Little 500 history. They train a total of 4 hours a week and for 2.5 months a year. It sounds about right.
Calling Snus the biggest joke in Little 5 history is hard statement to support. Since 1990, only Cutters, Dodds and Phi Delts have more wins.
Had a decent team last year but concentrated on quals too much; exchanges were far too erratic to keep them near the front even if snu had the horsepower but definitely on the upswing again
