Fall Series Crazy

The IUSF website now has PDFs for all the weekends event and there are a ton of riders competing! Good for the health of the race.
All the strongest ladies teams are repping (even Kappa) and I'd wager my money on Balchan, Dickman and (of course) CvK competing for the Ws. No Cutters, PDTs or FIJIs on the Mens side of the docket but GGC, BKB, DTD and Sigchiwoegler have strong representation out there. Coudright and Dewart will battle it out for the Sprints, Morrow and Half for the Climb TT and the Cyclocross- Half and Kiel for GGC will win. As ever I enjoy getting it all wrong.

  1. why don't the cutters ever do fall series? I know they got in that bad accident and I give them a pass for this year but I bet they weren't going to do it anyways...

  2. any reasoning behind why all these teams are not competing?

    ReplyDelete
  3. too cool for school

    ReplyDelete
  4. What do the cutters have to prove?

Eric Young was just claimed collegiate track champion; obviously he's the fastest guy around.

  5. Too cool for school is correct - who needs school when you have already signed a pro contract?

    ReplyDelete
  6. He should be kicked out of little 5. Move on to bigger things?

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's sad that more teams and people do not take the opportunity to compete in events that IUSF puts on. I would encourage everyone that can to race as much as possible prior to the Little 5 it can only help.

  8. You dumbasses, the Cutters are not competing because FOUR of them were recently hit by cars. I can't believe I even have to say that. Are you freaking kidding me?

    ReplyDelete
  9. They had 100% planned to do the Fall series. Hank is on RC and he was going to make sure the ENTIRE team participated. I honestly cannot believe the audacity of some people.

  10. I have read a lot of silly things on this site but that might be the silliest. I don't think anyone cares if they ride fall series or not but to suggest Cutters were going to is ridiculous. It's not in the plan (a plan that has won the last 4 races).

    ReplyDelete
  11. HOW DO YOU KNOW THE PLAN???? Please sell me their secrets, I must know how to win this race. I drink all winter and when I start riding in January I have no rhyme of reason to what I do on the bike, I don't understand why my training doesn't yield better results.

And It is me who cares if they ride the fall series that way I can see how much better they are than me at the beginning of the year, I can't just let other bike riders beat me, I'd prefer the Cutters to do it year round

  12. Yo - frat dont need compete cuz frat got frat. tfm.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok well enough hating or loving on the cutters... How did the actual event go?? Upsets surprises strong looking teams??

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hank and Kevin should have shown up and participated. They were not injured and Hank is on RC for Christ's sake. Unless you have class, and you are on RC you need to be setting the example.

So who did look good on for the women and men.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kevin was in a bad crash you moron. He almost broke his femur when he got hit by a car.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I didn't see Chris West, Ren-jay, David Ellis, or Brian Holthouse doing street sprints along with Hank and they're all on RC as well. He rolled up to watch after what I assume was class considering he had a backpack on after the first couple heats. I don't know Kevin but there was another dude with Eric and Hank when they were watching but I heard he got hit really bad the week prior to the Cutter slaughter wreck.

  17. The earlier post by geraint about no cutters, phi delts, or fijis led me to assume that there werent any cutters, phi delts or fijis in the field. maybe you werent quick enough to pick up on that one though - so i will help you - they didnt sign up. why ren jay and brian didnt show up - thats a whole different story. my guess is they realized its october - a time of drink, da-sports, and I guess cyclocross. maybe i am wrong though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. i heard that ren-jei was going to go but there were like 50 super hot chicks all trying to get at him oustide his apartment so he had to lay low....

  19. In regards to drinking, I've had my fair share of encounters with Lusk at the bars, most notably Kilroys. Being the frat star I am I'd deem it fair to say this is his favorite bar as well as he's there every Thursday night and goes right after a lab that he's taking. As much as I hate the Cutters for their performance they are decent guys and Lusk does he fair share of drinking. I've never once seen Eric Young drink a beer or out at the bar though; maybe thats his secret? Is Lusk trying to make the Cutters the most fratty team in Little 5? I wouldn't count on obtaining that title

  20. Omg does anyone have actual results?? I'm so tired of coming to this site and seeing crap about the cutters. They are good and if anyone wants to beat them get off of here and go ride your damn bike!

Again.... Does anyone have ACTUAL results??

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kris Zee won street sprints for men and Lisa Hutchison (new Teter) for women

  22. Catching up on my weekend cycling smut. How did this get lost within the comments..??

    "Anonymous said...

Can someone tell me how Eric Young is even in the conversation? I'm assuming he won't be riding L5 in the spring. Anyone have any news on this?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The lil 5 rule needs some thought with this years unique case. Sure he followed the rules, but here is a case where even by following the rules you get iffy circumstances. Either Young + the ineligible riders should be allowed to race this year and see how it goes, or the rule should strictly be for only cat 3, 4 and 5's.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why is this a unique case? He's either a pro or he's not.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I say let all three or four or however many there are that are 2s or 1s or pros ride in the race. it will only make it more competitive.

it would one - make bkb competitive
    two - make beta legitimate
    three -make cutters cutters.

    ReplyDelete
  26. So what would it take to change the rule? It sounds like the are more people for it then against it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. He is not a pro until the day after Little 500 as stated by the rules. This rule was changed for a fraternity hose so Hans could ride again which I thought was a great move by IUSF. Now people are bitching because Cutters are putting the rule to good use and making sure everything is legal by IUSF before they do anything. He 100% eligible set in stone. He's not getting paid.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rex Rafferty and CVK win Climb trial. Pretty cool event with a lot of crashing involved! Kind of felt like Little 5 out there with the cinders flying

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gray Goat (Kiel/Half) and Teter (Gowdy/CvK) win the cyclocross. Best wreck was probably Jordan Bailey who hit the first haybale in the lead but ended up on the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So what eric young isn't getting paid. He is a pro with pro talent riding in an "intramural" event. I don't even think you can call it that anymore. Eric young is going to ruin the 2011 race. Good job hazel bear.

    ReplyDelete
  31. He is not a pro though. He still a cat 2 for Little 500. How is he ruining anything? Did you see how exciting the last race was? Did Young ride away from everyone? in the sprints sure, but no one was sure until the last lap hit. He started as an intramural and didn't even make the team his freshman year. I'm sorry but the intra mural part of it is annoying because everyone takes Little 5 more serious than any other intramural event in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree with the top post: there is nothing intramural about Little 5. I would say its safe to say that there are better athletes in Little 5 then there is in many of the scholarship athletic sports here at IU

    ReplyDelete
  33. agreed on the intramural part - that card gets thrown out there way too much. young has not done anything illegal - but his actions feel so wrong. he followed every rule, but yet he beat the us crit champ in a sprint this year as well as many other top us bike racers. the people who whine and complain do it because he is not on their team - but what would the cutters think if it was reversed. say he rode for bkb, what would happen then? the point is that he timed his little 500 perfectly and he has done nothing "wrong".

and he only sat out his freshman year because cutters were stacked with talent and he was new-er to cycling. placing 3rd in ITTs and saying he was a beginner is a joke. beginner to little 5, loaded with talent. had they needed a sprinter they would have taken him. instead they annihilated the field.

im sick of people whining. im sick of cutters whining back.

  34. Shall I call somebody a "Waaambulaaance"?

Shut up snivelers and race your bikes. When did we sink down to a culture of cry babies and complainers?

Hell, practically everyone that races Little 5 gets a trophy and a plaque. If you guys don't want to settle for your 'participation awards' and your 'smiley face' stickers I suggest you get your butts in gear and train!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Cutters wouldn't care if Young was on another team. They didn't stop training in 04 when Simmion rode for TMT (WIN) or when Hans smoked everyone in 06 (not good race for Cutters). They train regardless of people on their team and there's no disregarding that fact. They are always competitive and that will continue to be the result as long as Kirkham and Fowler are running the show. I know it's hard to believe but eventually the Cutters will lose again. But my money is with them this year

  36. "Kevin was in a bad crash you moron. He almost broke his femur when he got hit by a car. "

The other Kevin. DePasse, he wan't hit by a car.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The above post is completely wrong. Kevin Depasse was indeed hit by a car. He was injured more so than Eric Young and Patches and still has not been riding due to injury.

    ReplyDelete
  38. From the IDS:

"Eric Brodell, who was hit head-on, and Eric Young both flipped over the car, and Michael Schroeder hit the vehicle’s side, fourth rider Thomas Walsh said."

So exactly when was Kevin Depasse hit by a car???

    ReplyDelete
  39. Kevin was hit about a week earlier than the other guys, it just didn't make the news.

    ReplyDelete
  40. From the same IDS article:

"This crash is the second wreck in the past week to involve a Cutters rider. Rookie rider Kevin Depasse was hit by a car last week when the driver turned left and didn’t see him. Depasse was thought to have a broken femur, but the results came back negative."

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's funny the amount of misinformation that goes on around here. Eric Young may have been 3rd in ITT's but he WAS a beginner who just started training for bikes in the fall of that year. He just happened to be good right away. And yes, Kevin Depasse was hurt worse than everyone except Eric B.

  42. Where is the write up for fall series Geraint? We would love to read the recap!

    ReplyDelete
  43. yes geraint for sure! so tired of coming to the fall series thread and reading about people crying about the cutters...lets hear your thoughts!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Give him some time, he has some serious back-pedaling to do regarding the women. How about putting it in a new thread too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I had no idea about DePasse, considering how everyone on this blog is stalking the Cutters, I would have thought it would have been here first!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm sick of Todd Neville.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ha Ha, who is sick of Todd? Has he posted lately or did he post anonymous and someone caught on to his IP address? I can only guess!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Todd Neville is a saint

    ReplyDelete
  49. hahaaha i laugh at you saying he was a beginner. so was wayne stetina in your book.

    ReplyDelete
  50. He had never ridden bikes before Little 5. You are an idiot. He ran track in high school and was slightly above average if that makes you feel better. Never rode a bike, or raced at any level.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would love to hear an actual recap of Fall Series, rather than complaints.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think we have all lost sight of what the priority of Little 5 really is: chasing some snatch. There seems to be the misperception that myself and my team are involved in this event for the simplicity of wanting to win it. That is absolutely absurd. Who wants to sit on a bike 6 days a week for up 8 hours at a time to win a race where you ride in circles? No one is the answer, unless of course doing so yields the ever so favorable result of the company of the opposite sex, or maybe even on occasion the same sex (we all know shit gets crazy the night after the race.) All I'm trying to say is it sounds like you are all getting your priorities out of whack. For those of you actually taking this Little 5 stuff seriously you need to cool your jets and recalibrate your objectives. Little 5 is for one thing and one thing only: fucking bitches making money. Why do you think we staged that whole crash thing anyways? We tested out the idea on Kevin first, but that didn't get enough attention. So we had to up it to a three man epic head on collision. Next thing you know front page IDS, good as money in the bank.
    -Hank
P.S. Be safe and go ride your bikes.

  53. Just a reminder, I always post under my username.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So sick of this site. You can't find anything relevant unless it's complaints about the cutters. I'm done with it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I post under my as well but touche to the above; that shit is funny

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm thinking that BVN is slowly (or not so slowly) turning towards becoming another pedals and spokes bitch fest. the funny thing is, even WITHOUT Tom regulating and creating the drama on a forum, everyone STILL talks shit about everyone else and makes things up that are ridiculous. Makes you realize that Tom's actually not the worst of the shit spreaders and drama lovers around L5. Riders, go ride your damn bikes; bitching about the competition never helped anyone beat them. Alumni, stop shitting on people you've never met and will never be able to beat on the track. It's as simple as that.

  57. Advice you can live by, you should try it yourself sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hank first off you have nipple rings...secondly well i dont need a secondly but ill go ahead, you ride for the cutters. Thus on the whole you are the worst.
